SSL Checker for Origin Server Behind Cloudflare
John B
Most of the websites I monitor are behind Cloudflare with Strict or Full Strict SSL settings, so monitoring them doesn’t actually check the server-side SSL certificate. The only workaround I’ve found is to monitor a URL that bypasses Cloudflare (like mail.website.com) to get the original SSL certificate.
But this ends up having the url checked every hour (maximum limit) pretty much for nothing...
It would be great to have the option to add as a feature dedicated URL only for SSL checking, with a lower frequency (once every 24 or 48 hours) without the uptime.

Thanks for this suggestion, but considering a 1h check costs almost nothing (~0.1€ / year), it's hard to justify spending the time and implementing a specific feature for this use-case, as it would also make the UI more complex for every other users that don't need this. Also if you're behing a CDN it can make sense to monitor your origin server SSL certificate, but also its uptime, as the CDN could hide/delay the origin server issues because of caching. So I would argue a 1h check on this origin is the least I would recommend and the "bonus" uptime check is definitely not superfluous IMO. But I'll keep the suggestion open to see if other people think it could be useful for them.

Adrien Rey-Jarthon Yep it's not really about the cost but more on being able to monitor the real SSL so it's not confusing as it's forcing to have 2 URLs to be checked in the dashboard and they aren't attached to each others.
How about the possibility of adding a sub-URL so it's displayed right below the main URL? For example, a "+" icon could expand to show the sub-URLs being monitored as part of the original domain.
It's a different type of request but that would be less confusing and would be awesome if they could be added as sub-URL.

I appreciate your quick answer and please keep up the good work! :)
